Introduction

The Delhi Judicial Services Exam(DJSE) is a highly competitive exam with a low attempt-to-select ratio.


Stages

The three stages of selection process is:

Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam (four papers), and Viva Voce.


Purpose

Conducted by Delhi High Court to recruit judges for Delhi's judicial services.


Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship

Must be a citizen of India.


Age Limit

Below 32 years (general category) with age relaxations of 5 years for specific categories.


Education

Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognized University/Institution. Advocates under the Advocates Act, 1961, or practising advocates in India are eligible.


Health and Character

Good health, suitable for government service with no involvement in criminal cases, bankruptcy, or insolvency.

As per the official notification, the eligibility criteria for the Delhi Higher Judicial Services Exam are as follows:

1. Age Limit: The minimum prescribed age limit is 35 years.

2. Citizenship: The candidate must be a citizen of India.

3. Educational Qualification: Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University/Institution.

4. Experience: Only candidates with a minimum of seven years of practice as advocates (as of January 1 of the recruitment year) are eligible.

5. PWD Category: Candidates in the PWD category can avail themselves of the scribe facility for the examination.

6. Special Note: Prosecuting Officers/Assistant Prosecuting Officers are considered advocates and are eligible based on the Supreme Court's judgment in Civil Appeal No. 561 of 2013.

Documents Required

2. Passport-sized Photograph (max 100 kb)

Steps to Apply


Step 1: Create Login ID

- Register on the official website.

- Provide personal details and note the password.

- Save login credentials received via email.


Step 2: Fill Application Form

- Log in and enter the verification code.

- Fill in details carefully, including qualifications.

- Save the completed form.


Step 3: Upload Photo and Signature

- Follow guidelines for photo and signature uploads.


Step 4: Make Payment

- Pay the application fee (General: Rs. 1000, Reserved: Rs. 200) via debit card or net banking.

- Obtain a self-generated Web Application Number after payment.

- Keep a printout of the completed application for reference.

Exam Pattern and Selection Criteria

1. Preliminary Exam (200 marks)

   - Computer-based exam with objective questions.

   - Negative marking (25% deduction for incorrect answers).

   - Duration: 2 hours.

   - Qualifying score: 60% for general category, 55% for reserved categories.


2. Mains Exam (850 marks)

   - Four papers covering General Knowledge, Language, Civil Law, and Criminal Law.

   - Papers 1 and 2 are subjective, and Papers 3 and 4 have objective questions.

   - Each paper has a specific duration.


3. Viva Voce (150 marks)

   - Panel interview assessing legal knowledge, personality traits, and communication skills.

   The general category requires a 50% minimum, reserved category requires a 45% minimum for successful recommendation.
