Introduction
The West Bengal Judicial Service Examination is a highly esteemed exam in India that serves as the entry point to the desirable position of a Civil Judge in the state of West Bengal's judicial service. The exam is conducted by the West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) and is known to be extremely competitive.
It comprises three stages - Preliminary, Main, and Viva-Voce, which assess the candidate's legal knowledge, reasoning, judgment, and writing skills.
Recently, the West Bengal Public Service Commission announced the recruitment of 29 Civil Judges through WBJS 2023 exam notification after a gap of two years.
Overview
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the candidate requires:-
First to be an Indian Citizen or a person of another nationality as declared eligible by the Government of India. T
The age limit for the candidate is between 23 to 35 years as of 30.12.2022.
However, there is an age relaxation given to certain categories;
5 years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes of West Bengal
3 years for Backward Caste candidates (Non-creamy layer)
2 years for government servants who have served for at least 2 years
Upper limit relaxation till 45 years for candidates with any type of physical disabilities which is 40%.

Educational Qualification
The applicant is required to possess a Law degree from a University or Institution affiliated to any University recognized by the State Government/Central Government.
They must be enrolled as an advocate in the role of Bar Council of any State or Union Territory in India.
The applicant must possess the ability to read, write, and speak in Bengali language.
Application Proces
To start the application process navigate to the official website of WBPSC.
On the Home page, look for the "WBJS Application Form" link and click on it.
You will be redirected to a new page where you will see an option labeled as 'enroll yourself'; click on it.
Afterward, you will be presented with an enrollment form that requires you to fill in all the necessary details such as your name, address, contact details, etc.
After filling all the details, click on the "sign up" button.
Next, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number or email address.
If the process is successful, you will receive the enrollment number on your screen.
To proceed further, you will need to log in again to the website using your login credentials.
Once you have logged in, enter all the required details such as personal information, eligibility, qualifications, and others.
Also, make sure to upload a scanned signature and photo as per the specifications.
Finally, you need to pay the required fee for your application as per the category.

Syllabus

There are 8 compulsory papers and 3 optional papers to give for qualifying mains. The duration for this exam is 3 hours with 100 marks for each subject. Total Marks- 1100 Marks
Interview or Personality Test - 100 marks
In this section of the examination, candidates can expect questions related to both national and international issues.
The topics covered in the final exam will also be included in the interview. Additionally, candidates will be evaluated on how they handle the pressure while answering the questions.
