Eligibility Criteria


To be eligible to apply for the exam, it is necessary to meet certain criteria. These include;- 


  • Being a citizen of India, 

  • Being between 22 to 35 years of age


Educational Qualification


  1. Having a law degree from a university established by law in Uttarakhand or a recognized university in India

  2. Having a basic understanding of computer operation

  3. Having a good social and moral character. 

  4. It is essential to have a thorough knowledge of Hindi in the Devanagari script.

  • Next, locate and click on the "Careers" tab on the homepage. 

  • Then, on the next page, click on the "Application Form" link and carefully read the instructions provided. 

  • After that, click on the "Apply Now" button and fill in all the necessary information such as your name, address, email address, etc. 

  • You must also upload your recent passport-size photograph, signature, and other relevant documents. 

  • Once you have filled in all the details, click on the "Submit" button to submit the application form. 

  • You will then need to make the payment of the application fee. 

  • Lastly, don't forget to take a printout of the application form for future reference.

Syllabus


The UKPSC J Exam is conducted in three stages:- Prelims, Mains Exam and Interview


Exam Pattern (Prelims)- Objective or Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

  1. General Knowledge - 50 Marks

  • International Law

  • Recent Developments and legislations

  • Neutrality

  • Indian Constitution


  1. Law - 150 Marks

  • Property Law

  • Muslim Law

  • Hindu Law

  • Code of Criminal Procedure(CrPC)

  • Code of Civil Procedure(CPC)

  • Indian Evidence Act

  • Indian Penal Code


The duration for this part of the exam is 2 hours, for a total of 200 marks.

1st Paper- Present Day

The content of this paper pertains to the prevailing situation in India and worldwide, primarily concerning the legal domain.

2nd Paper- English Language

  • Translation of english passages to Hindi (Devanagari Script) - 30 Marks

  • Translation of Hindi passages to english- 30 Marks

3rd Paper(Law Paper I)- Substantive Law

  • Law of Contracts

  • Law of Partnership

  • Casements and Torts

  • Transfer of Property

  • Principles of Equity

  • Law of Trust & Specific Relief Act

  • Hindu Law & Mohammedan Law


4th Paper(Law Paper II)- Procedure and Evidence

The focus of the questions in this paper pertains mostly to practical aspects, such as the formulation of charges and handling witness testimony, drafting of verdicts, and the overall management of cases. However, the scope is not limited to these areas alone.

Interview / Viva Voce

The candidate's suitability for employment in the Judicial Service will be evaluated through a Personal Interview, which carries a weightage of 100 marks. The assessment will be based on the candidate's academic record, personality, address, and physical appearance. The questions asked during the interview may be general and need not be related to academics or law. The final ranking of the candidate will depend on the total marks obtained in both the written papers and the viva voice.


Result


After the completion of the examination, the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission releases the result in the form of a merit list on its official website. To view your Uttarakhand Judiciary Result, you need to follow some simple steps.
