The Delhi Police informed the Patiala House court on Saturday that six individuals had conspired to breach Parliament's security and protest inside the Lok Sabha on December 13.
The police alleged that the conspirators wanted to create anarchy in the country to get their "illegal demands" met. The Public Prosecutor argued that the 'conspiracy' had been ongoing for nearly two years and that the 'conspirators' held numerous meetings in Delhi, Gurgaon, and Mysore.
The Public Prosecutor further stated that the accused deliberately chose the time when Parliament was in session to create a situation of anarchy. The police arrested the sixth accused, Mahesh Kumawat, who was involved with the 'mastermind,' Lalit Jha, in the destruction of evidence.
The Public Prosecutor sought Kumawat's remand, and after hearing arguments, Judge Kaur granted seven days of police custody.
During the hearing, Kumawat claimed that he was not informed of why he was arrested and that the first information report (FIR) was in English, which he did not understand as he had only studied till Class IX.
The Public Prosecutor contested the claim and said that the police had explained the reason for his arrest.
On December 13, during the Lok Sabha proceedings, two individuals entered the chamber from the visitors' gallery with canisters emitting smoke. Both were arrested by the Delhi Police.
Two more persons were arrested from outside the parliament building where they were protesting with yellow smoke.
The alleged 'mastermind,' Lalit Jha, was arrested by the Police on December 14. As of now, all the accused are under police custody.
