Hearing of Delhi Riots Larger Conspiracy Case to Restart After Judicial Reassignment

So, Delhi’s courts are basically hitting the reset button on the whole “Delhi riots conspiracy” case. Why? Because, surprise, a giant game of musical chairs just happened with 135 judges shuffled around. The judge who was knee-deep in this—Bajpai—got transferred. Remember Judge Rawat? He was on it for ages, also got moved. Now, enter Judge Lalit Kumar.

Honestly, it’s wild. The prosecutors had already finished their big speech, five of the accused had done their thing too. Hundreds of hours, thousands of pages—seriously, the police chargesheet is thicker than a Tolstoy novel (17,000 pages, not kidding). Now, thanks to the judge swap, they’ve gotta walk Judge Kumar through everything all over again. Imagine having to re-explain a year’s worth of Netflix drama to a friend who just showed up. Painful.

Court met yesterday, new judge basically said, “Guys, we’re already running late, chop-chop.” He wants a game plan—who’s talking, for how long, all that jazz. Both sides have to swap schedules, so everyone’s on the same page (or at least pretending to be).

Next round’s set for June 6th, noon sharp. For the record, this is all about FIR 59 from 2020, the big conspiracy case under the Indian Penal Code and UAPA. Defendants? It’s a laundry list—Tahir Hussain, Umar Khalid, Khalid Saifi, Isharat Jahan, Meeran Haider, Gulfisha Fatima, Shifa-Ur-Rehman, Asif Iqbal Tanha, Shadab Ahmed, Tasleem Ahmed, Saleem Malik, Mohd. Saleem Khan, Athar Khan, Safoora Zargar, Sharjeel Imam, Faizan Khan, Natasha Narwal. If you’ve followed the news, you’ve seen these names before.

Anyway, buckle up, because this case isn’t wrapping up anytime soon. Welcome to the never-ending saga of Delhi’s courts.
