Supreme Court’s order regarding firecrackers and air pollution issued to all states, not only to Delhi.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday clarified that regulating the sale and manufacture of fireworks to control pollution like air and noise pollution due to day to day pollution is increasing. Regulating the sale and manufacture of fireworks to be stopped not only during festival season thereafter as well.
A bench of justice AS Bonanza and MM Sunders stated that the state should take important steps to decrease pollution not only during festival season but thereafter as well.
In September this year, the supreme court had refused the applications to allow the manufacture and sale of green crackers made using barium as well as joined crackers.
In 2018 the apex court had ordered that allow manufacture and sale of only green cracker and low emission crackers
In October 2021 supreme court banned all crackers, which are made with barium within all states and union territories.
A carom of judicial member justice Sheo Kumar Singh and expert member Dr. Afroz Ahmad added that in the guise of celebration, nobody could be allowed to infringe on the fundamental rights to health under article 21 of the constitution.
The Supreme court gave this order due to increasing day to day pollution and which is affecting the public health.
