Ashfaq Alam was convicted for the rape and murder of a 5 years old girl in Aluva district. Alam was convicted under 16 charges, including aggravated penetrative sexual assault, rape and murder under various sections of the POCSO act and the Indian penal code.
The POCSO court found Ashfaq Alam guilty of 16 offences.
The punishment was given by additional district and session judge K Soman who heard the case concerning offences under the Protection of children from Sexual offence Act [POCSO ACT].
The crime took palace in July this year and Ashfaq Alam [guilty] belongs to Bihar, he raped and murdered a 5-year-old girl in Aluva, who lived in the same building as he did. The child’s body was discovered in a sack in a swampy area behind a local market in Aluva.
