Can custody be changed or modified after the divorce decree?

Yes, Custody orders are not final or fixed. Under Section 12 of the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890, custody can be modified or changed such as on grounds like change in circumstances, welfare concerns, or child’s preference
a) One parent becomes abusive or negligent
b) Relocation of parent or child
c) The child’s needs change with age
d) The child expresses a desire to stay with the other parent
