Can maintenance or alimony be waived through mutual agreement during divorce?

Yes. Under Section 13B, the Hindu Marriage Act, couples seeking mutual divorce can mutually decide:
a) The amount of alimony (if any)
b) Whether it will be paid monthly or as a one-time payment
c) Whether the wife or husband will waive the right to future maintenance. This agreement is legally valid if both parties agree willingly.
