Any woman who is or has been in a domestic relationship with the person committing the violence can file a complaint. This includes not just wives but also daughters-in-law, mothers, sisters, widows, girlfriends in a live-in relationship, or any woman living in the same household with a family-like connection.
The term 'domestic relationship' means people living together in a shared household who are related by blood, marriage, or adoption. Even a woman who has left the shared household due to violence can file a complaint for the abuse she suffered.
