What is the process for validating foreign law degrees?

If someone studies law in another country and wants to practice in India, their foreign LL.B. degree must be checked and approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The person must apply to the BCI with their degree, mark sheets, passport, and course details. The BCI compares the foreign course with Indian standards. Sometimes, the applicant may need to pass extra papers or complete additional requirements. Once the BCI confirms the degree is “equivalent,” the person can apply for enrollment with a State Bar Council. This validation ensures the degree meets Indian legal education rules.
