A Delhi court has granted Shahrukh Pathan, who was captured on camera pointing a gun at a policeman during the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots, a 15-day interim bail to care for his ailing father.
Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai of the Karkardooma Court approved the bail after reviewing medical records indicating Pathan's father had been hospitalized.
The court imposed specific conditions for Pathan's release:
- He must provide his mobile number to the investigating officer and keep it active.
- He is prohibited from contacting any witnesses or co-accused individuals.
- He must report to the Jafrabad police station every alternate day between 10-11 a.m.
Pathan has been in custody since March 3, 2020, facing charges related to the riots, including an incident where he allegedly aimed a pistol at police constable Deepak Dahiya. The interim bail period will commence upon his release, after which he is required to surrender back to custody.
