Summer Internship Programme 2024 at Department of Justice [10 seats, Stipend: Rs 5000/month]: Apply by July 5

Department of Justice

Department of Justice, Government of India, Ministry of Law & Justice. The Chief Justice of India, judges of the Supreme Court of India, chief justices, judges of the High Courts, and their service affairs are among the functions that include their appointment, resignation, and dismissal. The Department also oversees the implementation of significant programs such as the Development of Infrastructure Facilities for Judiciary, the establishment of Special Courts for the swift trial and resolution of sensitive cases (such as the Fast Track Special Court for rape cases and the POCSO Act), the E-court Project, which involves computerizing various courts nationwide, Legal Aid to Poor and Access to Justice, and financial support for the National Judicial Academy, which trains the nation's judicial officers.


The Department of Justice's internship program's objectives

Young legal students can participate in the Department of Justice's (DoJ) internship program. By providing training in research and referencing skills in a variety of specialized areas of justice delivery, including Access to Justice (Tele-law, Nyaya Bandhu, Legal Aid, Pro Bono legal services), eCourts services, Fast Track Special Courts, National Mission for Justice Delivery & Legal Reforms, and CSS for the development of infrastructure in the District and Subordinate Judiciary, the purpose of this program is to acquaint young law students with the workings of the Department of Justice.


Qualifications

Indian students enrolled in three-year degree programs in the second and third years, five-year degree programs in the third to fifth years, or graduates who have completed their LLB course from any recognized college/law school/university.


Honorarium/Stipend 

The interns shall be given an honorarium of Rs.5000/-on completion of their internship.


Duration of Internship

The internship will be for one month (four weeks), starting from June 1, 2023, for the 2024-25 financial year.

Internship Slots:

  • First Slot: From June 10, 2024, to July 9, 2024, with the last date for application submissions on June 5, 2024.

  • Second Slot: From July 10, 2024, to August 9, 2024, with the last date for application submissions on July 5, 2024.

  • Third Slot: From August 12, 2024, to September 11, 2024 (excluding weekends on August 10 and 11), with the last date for application submissions on August 5, 2024.


    Last date for Application

  • Last date for applications for the 1st Phase (Summer Programme): The last date for application for the 1st slot will be 05.06.2024.

  • The last date for application for the 2nd slot will be 05.07.2024.

  • The last date for application for the 3rd slot will be 05.08.2024.


    Number of students for internship in a month

The maximum number of interns to be allowed in a given monthly slot will be 10.


Selection

Candidates will be selected on a first come first first-served basis. Orders of the competent authority in this. regard will be final. All further intimations will be sent through SMS and E-mails respectively. Candidates who have completed their internship with the Department of Justice during earlier years and earlier Batches will not be considered for the internship programme of the Department of Justice for the Current Financial Year.


Placement

Each selected intern shall be posted with an officer of the level of Deputy Secretary/Director/Joint Secretary/ Additional Secretary /O/o the Secretary, Department of Justice / O/o the Minister of State (Law & Justice)/ O/o Minister of Law & Justice with the approval of the Competent Authority.


Submission of Report

At the end of the Internship Programme, all the interns will be required to submit a report on the work undertaken in this Department.


Certificate of Internship

On satisfactory completion of internship, a Certificate of Internship shall be awarded. For satisfactory completion inter-alia 90% attendance is mandatory. This is a full time internship to be attended physically and the interns are not expected to pursue any other course/work during the tenure of internship.


Termination

The Department may terminate the training programme of an intern at any time without assigning any reasons.

Terms & Conditions

i. The Intern has to make his/her own accommodation arrangement during the internship.
ii. Interns are required to present themselves at respective locations/premises from 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM unless otherwise permitted by the controlling officer.
iii. The Intern shall follow the rules & regulations which are in general applicable to employees of the Department.
iv. The Intern shall follow the confidentiality protocol of the Department and shall not reveal to any person or organization confidential information relating to the Department, its work and policies.
v. The Internship is neither an employment nor an assurance of an employment with the Department.
vi. Interns will follow the advice given to them by the Department regarding representations to third parties.
vii. In the event of unsatisfactory performance, the concerned intern may be advised by the Department of Justice to discontinue the Internship.
viii. If the intern decides to disengage from the Department, prior intimation should be given to this Department.
ix. The dress code of interns shall be formal black pants with white plain shirts.

Selected interns are advised to contact respective Offices/ Admin Section in the Department of Justice for entry passes during the internship wherein the interns are posted.

Procedure to apply

The student willing to undergo an internship program in the Department of Justice may fill his/her application form to undergo an internship programme in the Department of Justice along with relevant documents and a No Objection 


Certificate

The students are advised to filI up the form online and upload all the documents prior to the last date. Students can submit their application through off-line mode and through email at yadav.sanjay05@nic.in with the required documents.
