Tajwinder Singh, a recent B.A.LL.B.(Hons.)
graduate from the Institute of Law, Kurukshetra University, has excelled in
nearly 20 moot court competitions throughout his studies. His achievements
include securing the 2nd Runner-Up position and Best Memorial award at the 2nd
International Moot Court Competition organized by Karnavati University, Gujarat
in April 2024, and winning the Intra Moot Court Competition organized by the
Institute of Law, Kurukshetra University in November 2021.
He also earned the 1st Runner-Up position at
the 1st National Moot Court Competition organized by Lokmanya Tilak Law
College, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune in August 2021, the 2nd Runner-Up
position at the 1st National MS Rathi Memorial Moot Court Competition organized
by Latest Laws in November 2021, and was Runner-Up at the 6th National Moot
Court Competition (Virtual) organized by Smt. Kamalaben Gambhirchand Shah Law
School, Mumbai in April 2022. In October 2023, he was Runner-Up and Best Student
Advocate (Male) at the 12th RC Chopra Memorial National Moot Court Competition
organized by St. Soldier’s College, Jalandhar, and in April 2023, he was named
Best Researcher at the 6th National Moot Court Competition organized by Rayat
Bahara University, Mohali.
Alongside this, he has participated in many
prestigious competitions like the Moot Court by the Bar Council of India, the
National Human Rights Commission, and Himachal Pradesh National University of
Law. Singh served as a Campus Ambassador for Live Law for one year and
completed reputed internships with DLSA Kurukshetra, the Advocate General of
Haryana, the Advocate General of Punjab, and the National Commission for
Protection of Child Rights. He was also the Student Convenor of the 1st
National Moot Court Competition organized by Kurukshetra University.
In addition to his moot court successes, Tajwinder
has presented numerous papers at various national and international conferences
both inside and outside India. In December 2022, he presented a paper on ‘Right
to be Forgotten in Cyber Space: A Critical Analysis’ at the 2nd International
Conference on Law and Technology held by GD Goenka University, Gurugram, and on
‘Recognition of Marital Rape in South Asia: Issues and Challenges’ at an
international seminar organized by Geeta Institute of Law, Panipat, in
collaboration with Maldives National University and Kathmandu School of Law. In
February 2023, he presented on ‘Women Related Provisions in New Labour Codes:
An Ambedkarite Perspective’ at a national seminar held by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
Chair and Department of Laws, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In March
2023, he presented a paper on ‘Inclusion of Homosexual Couples in Current
Family Law Regime: A Critical Analysis’ at an international conference held by
Sharda University in collaboration with Adelaide Law School.
In August 2023, Singh presented a paper on
‘Reconceptualising Spousal Consent in Rape: A Comparative Analysis of Indian
and Indonesian Legal Perspectives’ at the 4th International Conference on Law,
Governance and Globalization held by Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia, and
another on ‘The Dilemma Of Age Of Consent: Safeguarding Minors' Rights In
Consensual Relationships In India’ at a national seminar organized by Rajiv
Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. In November 2023, he presented a
paper on ‘Marriage, Equality and Gender Justice: Navigating Rights for
Homosexual Couples’ at the National Seminar on Fostering Gender Justice
organized by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, and on ‘Virtual
Reality and the Law: Analysing Legal Challenges and Opportunities’ at the 5th
International Conference on Virtual Reality organized by Harren University,
Turkey. He also presented on ‘Beyond Profit: Safeguarding Indigenous Knowledge
in the Face of Corporatization’ at an international conference organized by
Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, in February 2023.
