About the National Human Rights Commission
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory public body established on October 12, 1993, under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance of September 28, 1993. It was later given a statutory basis by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA). The NHRC is tasked with the protection and promotion of human rights, defined by the Act as "rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity of the individual guaranteed by the Constitution or embodied in international covenants and enforceable by courts in India."
About the Internship – Online SIP 2024
For the month of August, the NHRC is inviting applications for the “Online Short Term Internship Programme – August 2024 (OSTI- August 2024)”. Eligible students from across the country can apply.
Eligibility
Applications are open to students who meet the following criteria:
Students in the 3rd year and onwards of an integrated 5-year PG course
Students in the 3rd or final year of a graduation course
Students of any semester/year of a post-graduate degree course
Students of any semester/year of a post-graduate diploma course
Research scholars in any stream
Note: Students must have consistently achieved a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent courses, including their current courses. The calculated percentage must be clearly mentioned from their CGPA/SGPA along with the formula for conversion. Failure to provide this information will result in rejection of the application. The applicant should not be older than 28 years as of July 1, 2024.
Duration
The internship will last for 2 weeks, from August 5 to August 16. The work hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Mode
The internship will be conducted online.
Type
This is a full-time internship, running from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Applicants must ensure their availability before applying.
Stipend & Award
All interns who successfully complete the program will receive a stipend of Rs. 2000/- and a certificate of participation. The certificate will be awarded based on:
Attendance, punctuality, discipline, and participation in online sessions
Timely submission of project presentation, project reports, and book review
Last Date of Application
The last date to apply is July 21, 2024 (until 6 PM).
Documents Required
Applications without the following documents will be summarily rejected:
Statement of Purpose (SoP): A 250-word write-up on "Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship" must be submitted with the application form online, serving as a basis for selection.
Marksheets: Self-attested scanned copies of marksheets from 12th Standard onwards and each year/semester of the current course.
Recommendation Letter: Scanned recommendation letter/email from the HOD/Dean/Principal in the prescribed format.
